Eighteen And Under formed partnerships with Tayside Police and Fire and Rescue Services to make the DVD which covers topics such as:

  • bogus callers
  • domestic violence
  • bad carers
  • safety in the home
  • misjudging youths
  • dealing with fires.

It features a number of Senior Citizens, who have taken part in the Senior VIP programme, playing the roles.

Whilst the underlying messages are serious, it portrays them with humour allowing everyone to have fun, whilst raising their awareness of personal safety. Each scenario allows for a pause for discussion of the topic raised.

Senior VIP

The issues of elder abuse and safety for elderly people have become ever more prevalent over the past few years. We believe that prevention is key and have developed a number of fully evaluated resources that anyone who works with elderly people can use.

Raising awareness, providing information, and most importantly, fun are the key aims of the Senior VIP programme. In this site, we will introduce you to the resources and provide information on how to use them.

Senior VIP Resource Book

Senior VIP Resource BookMany older people live in fear of crime and some fall prey to people who exploit or abuse them. Many suffer abuse and neglect at the hands of carers and some become more at risk of accident and injury as they grow older. We have developed this programme to use with older people in the belief that it will improve their health, safety and peace of mind while providing fun and entertainment at the same time.

Aims of the Senior V.I.P. Programme

  • To reduce fear of crime and raise awareness of the reality of crime.
  • To raise awareness about personal safety and health in its broadest sense and explore ways of feeling and becoming safer.
  • To prevent abuse and encourage anyone being abused, or at risk of abuse, to get appropriate help.
  • To explore risky situations people might find themselves in, and to help them find strategies to deal with them.
  • To provide an opportunity for discussions about important issues.
  • To provide appropriate information in a fun setting.
  • To encourage participants to learn through fun and activity.

This resource book consists of 8 hour-long sessions using songs, games, activities, quizzes and safety worksheets to provide information and encourage discussion in a way that is memorable and such good fun that people clamour to receive the programme.
